Apart from Hotel Yak & Yeti, the other local heritage hotel is Hotel Shanker.  It also boasts colonial European styled architecture with regal ballrooms. Ballroom and function room capacities are comparatively smaller, though, accommodating group sizes from 40-70 guests classroom style.  In contrast to the classical look of the hotel lobby and ballrooms, the guest rooms were recently renovated with modern interior design.

Shangri-La Kathmandu Hotel (not related to the international Shangri-la chain of hotels originated from Singapore) has a beautiful garden space for outdoor lunch and dinner functions.  However, its function room sizes are best suited for meetings of up to 40 participants classroom style.

One of the best international hotels in Kathmandu with good meeting facilities is Soaltee Crowne Plaza Hotel.  The hotel’s Megha Malhar Ballroom has high ceiling and fits about 350 guests in classroom style.  The stage is built-in for convenience.  This ground floor ballroom can have natural daylight if required, and it opens out into a courtyard that is suitable for cocktail reception and even outdoor exhibition space for about 30 booths of standard 3X3m size.  There are 5 smaller meeting rooms for groups of between 20-50 guests.
