Hotel Yak & Yeti is not one of the newest hotels in Kathmandu. Ironically, while the hotel’s newer wing that houses the main lobby, coffeehouse and guest rooms look somewhat jaded and in need of renovation, its vintage old wing is quite well maintained and retains much of its colonial grandeur.
The hotel’s main ballroom, function rooms and some restaurants are located in its old wing. The largest ballroom- Regal Ballroom - has high ceiling and can accommodate a maximum capacity of 170 guests in classroom style or 800 theatre style. However, it is the smaller Regal Hall and Dynasty Crystal Room that have a more regal interior with ornate and intricately decorated walls and chandeliers. They are most suitable for a stately dinner function for 60 guests banquet-style seating. There is another function room that caters for 110 guests classroom style. These are supported by several smaller rooms suitable for seminar or VIP holding rooms.
The corridor serving these function rooms does not have enough space for exhibition, but it does have warm, natural sunlight in the day and are wonderful for tea and coffee breaks. The ground floor lobby in this old wing can serve as a grand pre-function cocktail reception venue, or as a small scale desktop exhibition area.
Apart from these indoor function space, the hotels garden and pool areas are great for outdoor theme party, while the Chimney Restaurant can be used for cosy informal gathering for smaller groups.
Hence, organizers should not write-off Hotel Yak & Yeti as a meetings venue.
