Immerse in Medieval academic atmosphere when you hold your conference at the Jagiellonian University Museum. The university, founded in 1364, is one of the oldest in Europe. The Museum has a rich collection of famous scientific tools from the past, European paintings, Medieval sculptures and antique wood furniture from Poland’s Gdansk region.
The Museum is most appropriate for academic or business conference of not more than 100 delegates. The Jagiellonian Room, where doctorate degrees award ceremonies were held in the past, is best suited for conferences because seats are already fixed in theatre style. Despite the room being preserved in its original 15th century state, modern AV equipment is available here although there is no Internet access.
The Libraria – the old library – can be used for smaller seminar or board meeting. The Stuba Communis – an old meeting and dining area for university professors – is perfect for dinner or cocktail functions of between 30 to 70 guests. While the Museum will exercise flexibility in re-arranging furniture and exhibits to suit your event needs, it is probably best to respect and admire the interior decor and displays as they are showcased. For the same reason, elaborate stage backdrops or ‘party’ setups are not encouraged.
A more modern conference room, the Bobrzynski Room, can accommodate about 50 persons in classroom style. You don’t get the ‘old-world charm’ in this room, but it is well equipped with the latest AV technologies, including built-in simultaneous interpretation rooms.
The building housing this Museum, the Collegium Maius, has a beautiful fountain courtyard that is excellent for hosting welcome receptions and cocktail parties. The Museum is located in the heart of the Main Market Square.
