Pullman Barcelona Skipper Hotel, with 241 guest rooms and an entire floor dedicated to meetings, is ideal for medium size conferences and business meetings. It is conveniently located near the beach.
The guest rooms at the Pullman Barcelona are comfortable and functional without being overly luxurious. Most of the rooms offer seaview.
The meeting rooms of Pullman are located in the basement level, but through clever use of skylight, there is still natural light shining into the space. Upon entering this level, an information desk welcomes all guests, and helps to direct guests into the right function room. The sizable, central pre-function area with natural light is excellent for cocktails and tea-breaks. The largest function room can accommodate up to 350 guests in classroom style. The room can be partitioned into 4 smaller rooms for meetings of 70 to 110 attendees in classroom style. Other rooms are good for workshops or breakout sessions, and the use of glass wall ensures natural sunlight. The only setback is that all the function rooms have rather low ceiling, hence this venue is not quite suitable for larger conventions or gala events.
For social functions, the poolside is a great location with a great view of the white sandy beach, deep blue sea and the shiny golden big “Peix” or fish sculpture by renowned architect Frank Gehry. The pool area, however, is not very big but should be comfortable for cocktail party of up to 50 guests.
Another area that can be reserved for private function is the atrium café which serves traditional Catalan cuisine with a modern touch. For this review, the café served a good sampling selection of 100% pure 5J Iberian acorn-fed ham DO Jabugo (Huelva), Toasted savoury flat bread with Can Roseta hanging tomato and virgin Arbequina olive oil, “Montadito” (mini-sandwich) with caramelised foie gras, Squared Iberian cured ham croquettes, Skipper patatas bravas (fried potatoes in spicy Brava sauce), Garlic prawns (Gambas Al agilio) and Cod “esqueixada” style (traditional Catalan dish) with its “pil pil” sauce. The food was well prepared and tasty even though it was off-dining hours then.
