Unzen is a mountain hot spring resort which is about two hours’ drive from Nagasaki. As a MICE destination, it has many attractions to offer. MICE organizers can arrange visits to the natural hot springs, organize onsen (hot spring bath) experience, take the delegates to the Nita Pass ropeway to a height of more than 1,300m above sea level, organize golf sessions or conduct “amazing race” team building activities within Unzen vicinity.

Different season gives Unzen a different colour, but the steam from the hot spring gives Unzen a misty, heavenly feel all year round.

There are about 10 large hotel or traditional ryokan in Unzen. A great venue for MICE groups is Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan. Founded in 1929, Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan has a grand lobby to welcome MICE delegates. Guests can enjoy the beautiful Japanese garden scene while waiting for their room keys.

For the rooms, guests can have option of traditional Japanese ryokan with tatami, or western-styled rooms with bed. Some of the rooms come with good view of the misty hot springs.

For conferences, its main Japanese-styled hall can accommodate up to 300 guests and it comes with a built-in stage. The corridor outside the hall is not suitable for pre-function gathering. Hence, tea breaks would have to be contained within the hall.

Other meeting rooms with capacities of 20-36 guests are available for workshops and breakout sessions.

Not to be missed here is, of course, the excellent onsen (hot spring bath) experience. Have it your way: join other guests in the open pool, or book a private, open-air onsen for couples or families.
