Bairro Alto Hotel, a 5-star boutique hotel, is conveniently located in the heart of historic downtown, near the vibrant dining and shopping districts of Bairro Alto (pronounced as “Baihuolto”) and Chiado.
With just 55 rooms including 4 suites, and a small function room for up to 25 persons classroom-style seating, Bairro Alto Hotel works best for senior level business meeting or small incentive group.
The guest rooms, although not very large, exudes classic charm and the beds are comfortable. The meeting room probably works best in boardroom or U-shape styles.
On the rooftop is the hotel’s award winning BA Terrace, a wonderful place for light meal and drinks with a panoramic view of the city and Rio Tejo (Tagus River). MICE organisers may book the entire Terrace for private breakfast function only. For the benefit of all hotel guests, the Terrace cannot be entirely closed off for lunch or dinner.
The rather unassuming restaurant on the ground floor, also serves fairly good meals. For this review, the restaurant served traditional Portuguese suckling pig and pan seared seabass for mains. The suckling pig was interestingly served rolled-up and thinly sliced. For the seabass, the fish was fresh though a little bit over-cooked. The dinner was paired with a fruity, citric Portal da Calcada sparkling wine from North Portugal. For more information, visit: www.bairroaltohotel.com
