The Fukuoka Convention Center manages three main venues in Fukuoka, including the Marine Messe Fukuoka exhibition halls, the Fukuoka International Congress Center, and the Fukuoka Kokusai Center.
The 12-year old International Congress Center is the main venue for conferences, seminars and conventions. The Main Hall located on the level 3 is a theatre hall with large stage and fixed seating of 1,000. This is most suitable for convention or classical concert. What is interesting about this hall is that it has the flexibility to open up behind the stage to connect with the large Multi-Purpose Hall. The stage can then be relocated to the far end of the Multi-Purpose Hall. Another 2,000 seats can be arranged on the expanded floor space, so that this combined hall can achieve a maximum theatre seating capacity of up to 3,000 – a truly neat feature!
The Multi-Purpose Hall located on level 2 is highly popular on its own, given its very high ceiling and pillar-less structure. It is suitable for conference, exhibition or grand gala dinner. The International Conference Room located on level 5 is a more purpose-built conference room that comes with 6 built-in translation booths and facilities. The 5.5m height room can accommodate 400 delegates in theatre-style or 250 in classroom-style seating.
These large halls and rooms are supported by a number of smaller function rooms with a capacity of 30 persons each in classroom style, and up to 3 of the rooms can be joined to increase capacity as required by organizers. Level 4 and 5 also have a number of mid-size rooms for about 250 theatre-style or 100 classroom style seating.
All the rooms has spacious pre-function area with natural daylight, excellent for tea-break, cocktail reception or desktop exhibition. The food and beverage requirements for events in the International Congress Center can be easily fulfilled by the neighboring Sun Palace Hotel, although the venue management gives organizers the freedom to choose their own caterers.
The International Congress Center, together with the Marine Messe Fukuoka and the Kokusai Center, are strategically located along the bay, where MICE organizers can reserve the Bayside Place Hakata for social and networking functions. Organizers may arrange with the retailers and F&B outlets at the Bayside to create a carnival-like atmosphere for the delegates. A dinner cruise, departing from the bay, can also be organized for VIPs.
