A must-visit venue on the outskirts of Barcelona is the Codorniu Cellars, be it for meeting, breakfast, gala dinner, cava-tasting session or just a tour. Learn about the more than 450 year-old Tradition Method of making cava here, or admire the Modernist architecture of Josep Puig I Cadafalch. Josep Puig’s building here was declared National Historical-Artistic Heritage in 1976.
A typical visit to Codorniu Cellars will include a tram ride around the large compound of the Codorniu estate with commentary, followed by a tour of the museum where the guides will introduce the traditional cava-making technique, and then going deep down into the huge underground cellars.
There are a variety of spaces available for meetings and functions, including Museum Indoor for cocktail reception of about 450 guests, and the open area outside the Museum for about 1,000 guests cocktail style; the adjoining Gran Cellar suitable for banquet of about 1,000 guests. In the main visitor reception building, the main hall is suitable for cocktail function of about 150 guests, and the audio visual theatre in the same building can accommodate 140 people. The Capitular Room, and old underground cellar, is perfect for holding seminar and it can accommodate up to 70 people classroom-style. Each of these function space has its own unique architectural and artistic features, be it rustic, stately or Modernistic.
Also available sometimes for special events is the former home of the Codorniu family. Some of the rooms are suitable for board meetings and small receptions. Codorniu Cellars is definitely worth considering as an event venue!
