Serralves Foundation is a unique event venue, or rather cluster of venues within a 18-hectare park.
Visitors would first come into contact with the Contemporary Art Museum, designed by Pritzker prize-winning Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza Vieira. The Museum housed non-permanent thematic art exhibitions for the public, but MICE groups can reserve the auditorium for conferences, as well as the restaurant and tea room for social functions. But why meet here? Well, with periodic thematic exhibitions, this adds an element of surprise and interest to any groups meeting here. Then, the building itself is an attraction with clean lines, column-free flexible space and large windows that help connect visitors inside the building to the lush greeneries outside.
Talking about connection to the exterior, the pathway in the park leads visitors to an Art Deco mansion. There is a romantic love story behind this mansion, but to cut the long story short, a Portuguese Count built this park and mansion for his French wife, hence the impressive French-styled tree-lined approach to the building and its interior layout design. The various halls and rooms in the mansion are now open for use as corporate meetings or special thematic lunches and dinners.
The gardens, lake and tennis court within the vast Serralves Foundation compound can complement indoor meetings as team-building venues or host outdoor cocktail reception or dinner.
