Siem Reap has a modern, 3-year old airport full of local cultural flavour with a touch of tropical Zen look. But despite having a lovely resort hotel-like airport, not many international airlines fly to Siem Reap. The airport is served by mainly regional airlines from Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. Hence the best way to travel there is to transit from Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore or Phnom Penh flying Silkair, Bangkok Airways or Vietnam Airlines.
In July 2009, Cambodia launched a new national carrier Cambodia Angkor Air (CAA) with aim of improving transport and trade links, as well as promoting the nation's tourism industry. All flights are code-shared with Vietnam Airlines and connections are available to many cities around the world. Its fleet is comprised of new current model aircraft. Fly in safety and comfort on our ATR 72-500 turboprop planes and Airbus A321 jets.
Initially, the carrier will concentrate on domestic flights between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh as well as regional services between Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. It plans to fly to more destinations such as Singapore in the future.
