CIBTM 2012 officially opens on 12 September 2012. This year’s CIBTM is the largest event of its kind in Asia and the largest since its launch.  The show has 398 exhibitors, with Asia making up the largest proportion of the show while European exhibitors included several new destinations and companies.

Asian destinations are represented by Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Macau, Indonesia, Okinawa, and Malaysia. There are 39 international exhibitors this year with new destinations including Madrid, Mexico, London & Partners, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Other new exhibitors include MGM Grand, Ho Tram, Vietnam, Carey International (Pan-Asian) Circus Maximus, Singapore and Pacific World, McArthur Glen, InterContinental Hotel Group, Royal Caribbean and Global Meeting Services.

In terms of buyers, CIBTM 2012 hosts the highest number of Chinese Buyers (over 270) including new representatives from Shenzen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Qingdao. International buyers include those from Asia, France, Germany, Spain, UK, Russia, UAE, North America and Australia.  

Many MICE products and destinations are being introduced at CIBTM 2012. In particular, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) takes the opportunity to introduce an updated Malaysia Twin Deal (MTD) Programme for China and Hong Kong.  The MTD Programme, which was first launched in China last September, ‘booked’ more than 13,000 participants from China and has since been launched in other potential markets such as Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Europe and India.
